AUDIENCE: For KCSDV member program advocates and staff.
Survivors of domestic violence often make several attempts to leave an abusive partner and are forced to return for economic or financial reasons. The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse has awarded Kansas a grant to help survivors in the areas of financial safety planning, financial education, job readiness/job training, credit repair/credit building, and asset building. The Allstate Moving Ahead Through Financial Management curriculum has been completely revised and is now available to programs. The KCSDV Economic Advocacy team will train the Allstate curriculum and additional economic advocacy resources. We will also highlight the KCSDV Emergency Financial Assistance program and the KCSDV Matched Savings for Asset Building program. All of these resources and partnerships are available to all member programs whether or not you are an Allstate sub-grantee. We invite all programs to join us and learn about the Allstate curriculum and resources.
"The Allstate curriculum has been truly one of the best resources we have for survivors. No matter what stage of trauma or re-establishment all survivors have found the Allstate curriculum, Behind on Bills, and other resources so helpful in creating a new life for themselves. KCSDV has improved this program each year and their training this year for our entire staff was so educational. Many of the staff were able to begin the very next day using the curriculum with survivors."Lori Hensley, Executive Director, LARC DVS
As a result of this training, participants will be able to use the Allstate curriculum and the additional economic advocacy resources on the KCSDV Economic Justice web page to help survivors on their journey toward financial well-being.
