This webinar will provide participants with an overview of the current resources available for working with children and families who have been impacted by domestic violence, with a particular focus on what is available for child welfare professionals working with families experiencing domestic violence. An overview of each resource will be provided, including how to access each resource, as well as, how to utilize each resource with families. Resource topics will include:

  • Assessment tools for domestic violence including how to prepare for and interview each family member
  • Safety planning considerations and guidelines
  • Case planning considerations and guidelines
  • Tools to foster resilience in children exposed to domestic violence

Learning Objectives:
After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe at least 1 tool used to assess how domestic violence is affecting children and their families.
  2. Describe at least 1 safety planning resource that can be utilized with families experiencing domestic violence.
  3. Describe at least 1 case planning resource that can be utilized with families experiencing domestic violence.
  4. Describe at least 1 resource that can be utilized to foster resilience in children exposed to domestic violence.
  5. Employ at least 1 new domestic violence resource in their work with families experiencing domestic violence.
