Protection Orders and Full Faith and Credit: A to Z


AUDIENCE: Multidisciplinary - advocates, law enforcement, attorneys, and other victim service and criminal justice professionals working with survivors of sexual and domestic violence.

This training will provide an overview of the federal full faith and credit provision of the Violence Against Women Act. Participants will learn how to use the federal statute and Kansas enabling legislation to facilitate enforcement in other states, tribal jurisdictions, and territories. Other topics include: learning how to triage complex issues related to the enforcement of protection orders, exploring the core competencies necessary in providing survivor-centered advocacy and representation, and the necessary provisions and documentation needed to ensure that those outside of Kansas will have an easier time enforcing Kansas orders they may encounter.
