Core Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Advocacy Course

Audience: KCSDV member program advocates and staff


Description:

This course is intended to be an introductory course for community-based domestic violence and sexual assault advocates who are new to the field. Advocates who have not attended a Domestic Violence Advocacy Course and/or Sexual Assault Advocacy Course within the past 5 years are encouraged to attend.

This training consists of three parts. Part 1 must be completed before attending Part 3. Part 2 is optional.

Part 1: Online Modules

Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Modules: Each module consists of an online training (about one-hour each), additional readings, and post-test. Modules are available at: https://www.kcsdv.org/advocate-area/core-sexual-and-domestic-violence-advocacy-course/

Online Modules will be made available to approved registrants and must be completed prior to the in-person training. You are encouraged to begin the online modules as soon as possible to allow sufficient time to complete Part 1 prior to attending the in-person training.

Part 2: OPTIONAL Live Virtual Core Advocacy Training Introduction and FAQ

Lodging:

KCSDV did not reserve a room block at a particular hotel for the Fall Core Advocacy Course. Member programs who will be sending advocates to participate in the Core Advocacy Course and are in need of overnight accommodations are welcome to book their rooms at any hotel in Topeka. For your convenience, below is a list of four Topeka hotels that provide a discounted government rate for non-profit organizations:

Most hotels will allow government rate booking online through their website, but they may require require proof of non-profit status when checking-in, such as a business card. You will also want to make sure to provide the tax-exempt status.
